Mechanical Draftsman – CAD Operator

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Draftsman/CAD Operator to create detailed engineering drawings and 3D models for our manufacturing operations in Pune. You will work closely with design engineers to produce accurate technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D engineering drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD software
• Prepare assembly drawings, part drawings, fabrication drawings, and GA (General Arrangement) drawings
• Generate Bill of Materials (BOM) and parts lists from 3D assemblies
• Convert hand sketches and design concepts into professional CAD drawings
• Apply proper dimensioning, tolerancing, and GD&T annotations as per standards
• Maintain drawing revision control and update drawings based on engineering changes
• Create drawing templates, blocks, and standard libraries for efficient drafting
• Coordinate with design engineers, production team, and vendors for drawing clarifications
• Prepare manufacturing drawings, weld symbols, and surface finish notations
• Archive and organize CAD files following company document control procedures

Requirements

• Diploma/ITI in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Draughtsman trade
• 1-3 years of experience in mechanical drafting in manufacturing/engineering industry
• Expert proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and 3D modeling
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks, CATIA, or Inventor (added advantage)
• Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards (IS, ASME, ISO)
• Knowledge of GD&T principles and their application
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes to create production-ready drawings
• Good spatial visualization and attention to detail
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
