Tool Room Operator

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Tool Room Operator to work in our precision tool room in Pune. You will be responsible for manufacturing, maintaining, and repairing tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures used in production operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate tool room machines – surface grinder, cylindrical grinder, milling machine, lathe
• Manufacture precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges as per drawings
• Perform tool and die repair, reconditioning, and modification work
• Read and interpret complex engineering drawings with tight tolerances
• Use precision measuring instruments – micrometers, height gauge, dial indicators, slip gauges
• Perform heat treatment, hardening, and tempering of tool steel components
• Set up and operate EDM (Electrical Discharge Machine) and wire cut machines (if available)
• Maintain tool inventory and issue tools to production departments
• Ensure proper storage and preservation of tools and dies
• Follow safety protocols and maintain cleanliness in tool room

Requirements

• ITI in Tool & Die Maker or Machinist trade, or Diploma in Tool Engineering
• 3-6 years of experience in tool room operations
• Proficiency in operating grinding machines, milling machines, and lathes
• Ability to achieve micron-level accuracy in machining
• Strong knowledge of tool steels, heat treatment, and hardness testing
• Experience in jig and fixture design and manufacturing
• Good understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-up
• Problem-solving skills for tool-related issues
• Attention to detail and quality consciousness
