Planning Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Planning Engineer to join our production planning team in Pune. You will be responsible for creating production schedules, optimizing resource utilization, and ensuring on-time delivery of customer orders.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare production plans and schedules based on customer orders and delivery requirements
• Analyze capacity, resource availability, and material requirements for planning
• Create work orders, route cards, and production documentation
• Monitor production progress, identify bottlenecks, and take corrective actions
• Coordinate with sales, production, purchase, and dispatch departments
• Optimize machine loading and minimize setup times through proper sequencing
• Track material availability and coordinate with stores for timely issue
• Maintain production MIS reports, delivery performance metrics, and KPIs
• Participate in production meetings and communicate schedule changes
• Support continuous improvement initiatives for planning process optimization

Requirements

• B.E./Diploma in Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering
• 2-5 years of experience in production planning in manufacturing industry
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes, cycle times, and capacity planning
• Experience with ERP systems – SAP PP, Oracle, or similar planning modules
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in MS Excel
• Knowledge of MRP, scheduling algorithms, and inventory management
• Excellent communication skills for cross-functional coordination
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Problem-solving skills for handling schedule changes and emergencies
