Job Description

About the Role

We are hiring an Assistant Warehouse Manager with three to four years of warehouse experience to support the running of our Pune facility across all shifts. You will deputise for the Warehouse Manager, own specific areas of the operation outright, and be measured on cost, accuracy and safety rather than on activity. This suits a supervisor ready to take responsibility for a whole operation rather than a single shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily management of the full warehouse operation and deputise for the Warehouse Manager in their absence
  • Own operational KPIs including inventory accuracy, on-time dispatch, order accuracy and cost per unit handled
  • Plan manpower and shift rosters against forecast volumes, including seasonal peaks
  • Lead, coach and appraise warehouse supervisors and executives
  • Drive process improvement projects in layout, slotting, picking method and packing
  • Own warehouse safety compliance, including audits, incident investigation and corrective action
  • Manage relationships with transport partners, manpower contractors and equipment vendors
  • Control operating costs against budget and explain variances with specifics
  • Oversee stock verification cycles and sign off adjustments within your authority
  • Ensure statutory and customer compliance, including documentation, licences and audit readiness
  • Implement and improve standard operating procedures, and train the team on changes
  • Report weekly and monthly performance to the Warehouse Manager with analysis, not just numbers

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Commerce, Engineering or a related discipline; MBA in Operations or Supply Chain is an advantage
  • 3-4 years of warehouse experience with at least two years supervising teams
  • Proven record of improving a warehouse metric, with the numbers to show it
  • Strong command of warehouse management systems and ERP inventory modules
  • Advanced Excel for planning, costing and performance analysis
  • Working knowledge of warehouse safety regulations and audit requirements
  • Experience managing contract manpower and transport vendors
  • Ability to plan manpower and capacity against fluctuating volumes
  • Clear written and spoken communication for reporting to senior management
  • Willingness to be available across shifts when the operation needs it

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary benchmarked to warehouse and supply chain rates in Pune
  • Clear progression from executive to supervisor to assistant manager, with the criteria written down
  • Training on warehouse management systems and safety certification paid for
  • Provident fund, gratuity and health insurance for you and your immediate family
  • Overtime paid at statutory rates, and shift allowances where shifts apply
  • Canteen and transport support for shifts outside normal hours
