Python Developer (Mid-Level)

About the Role

We are seeking a mid-level Python Developer with two to three years of experience to join our backend team in Pune. You will build and maintain APIs, services, and data processing pipelines for client systems in production. This role fills the step between our junior openings and our senior backend positions, and is aimed at a developer who can own a service component with light oversight.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and REST APIs using Django or FastAPI
• Write clean, tested Python that another developer can maintain without an explanation
• Model and query relational databases, including writing efficient SQL and understanding query plans
• Build data processing and integration jobs, including scheduled tasks and queue workers
• Integrate third-party APIs and handle failure, retry, and rate-limiting properly
• Write unit and integration tests with pytest and maintain meaningful coverage
• Profile and optimise slow endpoints and database queries
• Implement authentication, authorisation, and input validation to a secure standard
• Participate in code review and contribute to backend engineering standards
• Support deployment and monitoring of the services you build, including reading logs when they break
• Write and maintain API documentation for consuming teams
• Take part in estimation, planning, and technical design discussions

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 2-3 years of professional Python development experience on production systems
• Working experience with Django, FastAPI, or Flask in a real application
• Strong SQL skills including joins, aggregation, indexing, and query optimisation
• Experience with an ORM and an understanding of where it stops being helpful
• Practical testing experience with pytest or unittest
• Understanding of REST API design conventions and HTTP semantics
• Familiarity with Git, code review, and collaborative development practices
• Working knowledge of Docker and containerised local development
• Exposure to a cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
