Java Developer (Mid-Level)

About the Role

We are looking for a mid-level Java Developer with two to three years of experience to join our enterprise engineering team in Pune. You will work on Spring Boot services supporting client business systems, contributing to design as well as implementation. The role is aimed at a developer who is past needing tasks broken down for them and is ready to own a service or module.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services and REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot
• Implement business logic against clearly defined requirements, raising gaps before building around them
• Design and query relational schemas, writing efficient SQL and JPA queries
• Write unit and integration tests using JUnit and Mockito
• Integrate with message queues, third-party APIs, and internal services
• Profile and resolve performance problems including slow queries, memory pressure, and thread contention
• Apply secure coding practices covering input validation, authentication, and authorisation
• Participate in code review and uphold agreed coding standards
• Support build and deployment pipelines for the services you own
• Investigate and fix production defects, including root cause analysis
• Contribute to technical design discussions and document decisions
• Work within an agile team, estimating and reporting progress honestly

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 2-3 years of professional Java development experience on production systems
• Working experience with Spring Boot and the wider Spring ecosystem
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design and common design patterns
• Solid SQL skills and experience with a relational database such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle
• Experience with JPA or Hibernate, and awareness of their performance characteristics
• Testing experience with JUnit and a mocking framework
• Familiarity with Maven or Gradle build tooling
• Competent with Git in a team branching workflow
• Exposure to containers and CI/CD pipelines
