Node.js Developer (Mid-Level)

About the Role

We are hiring a mid-level Node.js Developer with two to three years of experience for our Pune backend team. You will build API services and integrations that run in production for client businesses, owning features from design through to deployment. This position sits between our junior roles and our senior backend openings, with a clear progression path.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services and REST APIs using Node.js with Express or NestJS
• Design database schemas and write efficient queries against SQL and NoSQL stores
• Implement authentication and authorisation including JWT and session-based flows
• Build integrations with third-party services, handling retries, timeouts, and partial failure
• Write unit and integration tests using Jest or Mocha and keep the suite meaningful
• Handle asynchronous work correctly, including queues, background jobs, and streaming where appropriate
• Profile and optimise service performance, including event loop blocking and memory leaks
• Apply secure coding practices and keep dependencies patched
• Participate in code review and contribute to backend standards
• Support deployment, logging, and monitoring for the services you build
• Document API contracts for front-end and third-party consumers
• Take part in planning, estimation, and technical design

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 2-3 years of professional Node.js backend development experience
• Strong JavaScript ES6+ fundamentals including the asynchronous model and the event loop
• Production experience with Express, NestJS, or a comparable framework
• Working knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL databases and when each is appropriate
• Experience designing and documenting REST APIs
• Testing experience with Jest, Mocha, or similar
• Understanding of common web security issues and how to avoid them
• Competent with Git, code review, and collaborative workflows
• Familiarity with Docker and cloud deployment
