QA Automation Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer with two to three years of experience to join our quality engineering team in Pune. You will build and maintain automated test coverage for client web applications and APIs, and take responsibility for whether defects reach production. This role fills the gap between our entry-level manual testing openings and our senior automation positions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, write, and maintain automated UI tests using Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright
• Build automated API test suites covering functional behaviour, error handling, and contract stability
• Integrate automated suites into CI pipelines so that they run on every change
• Investigate test failures and distinguish genuine defects from flaky tests, then fix the flakiness
• Write clear, reproducible defect reports with the evidence a developer needs to act
• Perform exploratory and manual testing where automation is not the right tool
• Review requirements and designs early, identifying testability problems before build
• Maintain test data and environments in a state that supports reliable runs
• Report on coverage, pass rates, and defect trends in terms a project manager can act on
• Contribute to release decisions with an honest assessment of quality risk
• Improve the test framework itself, reducing maintenance cost over time
• Work with developers to increase unit-level coverage rather than testing everything at the UI

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 2-3 years of experience in software testing with at least one year writing automation
• Hands-on experience with Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright on a real project
• API testing experience using Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent
• Working knowledge of a programming language for test authoring — JavaScript, Python, or Java
• Understanding of test design techniques including boundary analysis and equivalence partitioning
• Experience integrating tests into CI tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI
• SQL skills sufficient to verify data-level outcomes
• Clear written communication for defect reports and test documentation
• Judgement about what is worth automating and what is not
