Business Analyst

About the Role

We are looking for a Business Analyst with two to three years of experience to join our delivery team in Pune. You will work between client stakeholders and engineering, turning business problems into requirements a team can build against. The role suits somebody who is comfortable asking the awkward question early, when it is cheap, rather than discovering the misunderstanding at user acceptance testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Elicit requirements from client stakeholders through interviews, workshops, and process observation
• Document functional and non-functional requirements clearly enough to be estimated and tested
• Map current and proposed business processes, identifying inefficiencies and automation opportunities
• Write user stories with acceptance criteria that leave no room for interpretation
• Analyse data to support recommendations, including writing SQL queries against client systems
• Facilitate workshops and requirement sign-off sessions with mixed technical and non-technical audiences
• Maintain traceability between business objectives, requirements, and delivered functionality
• Support user acceptance testing, including preparing test scenarios and coordinating client testers
• Manage scope changes through a documented process rather than by informal agreement
• Produce process documentation, user guides, and training material for handover
• Work with the development team throughout the sprint to answer questions and clarify intent
• Report project status and risks to stakeholders accurately, including bad news

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• 2-3 years of experience as a business analyst on software delivery projects
• Demonstrable requirements documentation experience — samples will be discussed at interview
• Working SQL skills for independent data investigation
• Experience with process mapping notation such as BPMN or equivalent flow documentation
• Familiarity with agile delivery, user stories, and backlog management tools such as Jira
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English
• Ability to challenge a stakeholder request constructively when it conflicts with the stated objective
• Understanding of software development practices sufficient to hold a technical conversation
• Experience supporting user acceptance testing through to sign-off
