WordPress Developer

About the Role

We are looking for a WordPress Developer with two to three years of experience to build and maintain client websites from our Pune office. You will work on custom themes, plugins, and integrations rather than page-builder assembly. The role suits a developer who writes WordPress properly — hooks, sanitised input, and code that survives a core update.

Key Responsibilities

• Build custom WordPress themes from design files, including block themes where appropriate
• Develop custom plugins and functionality using the WordPress hooks and filters API
• Create and manage custom post types, taxonomies, and meta fields for structured content
• Build and consume WordPress REST API endpoints for headless and integrated use cases
• Integrate WordPress with third-party services including CRMs, payment providers, and marketing tools
• Optimise site performance through caching, query optimisation, and asset handling
• Apply WordPress security practices including input sanitisation, output escaping, nonces, and capability checks
• Maintain and update existing client sites, including core, theme, and plugin updates without breaking them
• Migrate sites between environments and manage staging-to-production deployment
• Debug plugin conflicts and inherited code written by somebody else
• Implement SEO-supporting technical structure including schema markup and clean URLs
• Document custom functionality so that the next developer is not guessing

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 2-3 years of professional WordPress development experience
• Strong PHP skills, including object-oriented PHP
• Demonstrable custom theme and plugin development, not only page-builder configuration
• Working knowledge of the WordPress hooks system, template hierarchy, and coding standards
• Experience with the WordPress REST API
• Competent HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for front-end work
• MySQL skills including writing queries with WPDB safely
• Understanding of WordPress security practices and common vulnerability patterns
• Experience with Git, local development environments, and site migration
